Sweave: Dynamic Generation of Statistical Reports Using Literate Data Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Sweave combines typesetting with LTEX and data anlysis with S into integrated statistical documents. When run through R or Splus, all data analysis output (tables, graphs, . . . ) is created on the fly and inserted into a final LTEX document. Options control which parts of the original S code are shown to or hidden from the reader, respectively. Many S users are also LTEX users, hence no new software has to be learned. The report can be automatically updated if data or analysis change, which allows for truly reproducible research.

knitr: A General-Purpose Tool for Dynamic Report Generation in R
The original paradigm of literate programming was brought forward mainly for software development, or specifically, to mix source code (for computer) and documentation (for human) together. Early systems include WEB and Noweb; Sweave (Leisch, 2002) was derived from the latter, but it is less focused on documenting software, instead it is mainly used for reproducible data analysis and generating...
متن کاملThe cacheSweave Package
The Sweave system of Leisch (2002) is a literate programming tool based on ideas of Knuth (1984) and is currently part of the core R installation. Specifically, Sweave is a system for processing documents that mix LTEX document formatting with R code. R code can be interspersed within the LTEX markup by indicating “code chunks”. These code chunks are evaluated by the Sweave function in R and th...

متن کاملRethinking Literate Programming in Statistics
Literate programming is becoming increasingly trendy for data analysis because it allows generating dynamic analysis reports for communicating the data analysis and eliminates the chance of untraceable human errors in analysis reports. Traditionally, literate programming includes two separate processes for compiling the code and preparing the documentation. In this article I argue that while th...
متن کاملInsurance consumption in Italy: a sub-regional panel data analysis
We analyze the consumption of life and non-life insurance across 103 Italian provinces in 1996-2002. We assess the determinants of insurance consumption, in the light of the empirical literature and the distinctive features of our country, trying to explain the underdevelopment of the South as regards this sector. Among the benefits of using sub-regional data on insurance expenditure, one seems...
